Permanent Makeup Pre-Care Instructions

To ensure the best results for your permanent makeup procedure, it’s important to follow these pre-care guidelines. Proper preparation will help minimize discomfort, promote healing, and ensure beautiful, long-lasting results.

  •  Avoid Blood Thinners

    •  7 days before your appointment, avoid taking blood-thinning medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E supplements (unless prescribed by a doctor).

    •  Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and energy drinks 24 hours prior to your appointment, as they can increase sensitivity and bleeding.

  • No Retinols or Exfoliating Products

    • 1 week before your procedure, discontinue the use of retinols, glycolic acids, AHAs, BHAs, or any exfoliating skincare products on the treatment area. These can make the skin too sensitive.

  •  Avoid Botox or Fillers

    • If you’re planning to have any Botox or filler treatments, make sure they are done at least 2 weeks before your permanent makeup session.

  • Do Not Tan or Use Self-Tanner

    • Avoid tanning beds, direct sun exposure, or self-tanners for at least 2 weeks before your procedure, as tanned or sunburned skin may affect the pigment’s absorption.

  • No Waxing or Plucking

    • Avoid any eyebrow waxing, threading, or plucking for at least 1 week before your eyebrow PMU session. We will shape your brows during the appointment.

  • Stay Hydrated and Moisturized

    • Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment to keep your skin hydrated. • Moisturize the treatment area regularly, but avoid any products with heavy oils or fragrances.

  • Eyelash Extensions

    • If you are getting an eyeliner tattoo, remove lash extensions at least 1-2 days before your appointment.

  • Plan Ahead for Downtime

    • After your procedure, you’ll experience some redness and swelling. The healing process varies, but you may want to schedule your appointment at a time when you can avoid events for at least 5-7 days.

  • Bring a Reference Photo (Optional)

    • If you have a specific shape or color in mind for your brows, lips, or eyeliner, feel free to bring reference photos.

  • Relax and Be Ready

    • Get a good night’s sleep before your appointment, and wear comfortable clothing.

    • Feel free to bring headphones or anything that will help you relax during the session. If you have any questions or need further clarification, don’t hesitate to reach out. We look forward to helping you achieve your desired look!

Permanent Makeup
After-Care Instructions

Following your permanent makeup procedure, it’s essential to care for the treated area properly to ensure optimal healing and long-lasting results. Please follow these instructions carefully:

  • Expect Initial Swelling and Redness

    • Swelling, redness, and slight tenderness are normal in the first 24-48 hours. The color may appear darker and more intense during the first week due to the healing process.

  • Do Not Touch the Area

    • Avoid touching, picking, or scratching the treated area to prevent infection and pigment loss. Let any scabbing or flaking naturally fall off.

  •  Keep the Area Clean

    • Gently cleanse the area twice a day with a clean cotton pad and lukewarm water. Avoid rubbing or using any harsh products.

    • Pat dry with a clean tissue or paper towel—avoid using towels to prevent bacteria transfer.

  • Apply Aftercare Ointment

    • Use the provided healing ointment or a recommended fragrance-free balm 2-3 times a day for the first 7 days to keep the area moisturized.

    • Use clean hands or a cotton swab to apply the ointment—avoid over-applying or letting the area become too oily.

  • Avoid Water, Steam, and Sweat

    • Keep the treated area dry for the first 10 days:

    • Avoid long showers, swimming pools, saunas, or excessive sweating from workouts.

    • If the area gets wet, pat dry immediately.

  • No Makeup on the Treated Area

    • Avoid applying makeup to the treated area for at least 10 days, as it may interfere with healing and cause infection.

  • Avoid Sun Exposure

    • Keep the area out of direct sunlight for at least 4 weeks. After the initial healing period, use sunscreen to protect the treated area, as sun exposure can cause premature fading of the pigment.

  • Avoid Active Skincare Ingredients

    • For 2 weeks post-procedure, avoid using any exfoliating products, retinols, glycolic acids, or any skincare products containing strong active ingredients on or around the treated area.

  • Be Patient with the Healing Process

    • Healing takes time. The color will soften and lighten as the area heals. You may experience some flaking or scabbing, which is normal.

    • After 4-6 weeks, you will see the final result. At this point, we can assess if any touch-ups are needed.

  • Schedule a Follow-Up Appointment

    • A touch-up appointment is recommended 6-8 weeks after your initial procedure to perfect the shape and color.

  • Avoid Smoking and Alcohol

    • Smoking and alcohol can slow down the healing process and may cause the pigment to fade faster. Try to limit these activities for the first week post-procedure.

  • Consult if You Experience Any Issues

    • If you notice any signs of infection (increased redness, swelling, or discharge), or if you have any concerns during the healing process, please contact us immediately.

  • By following these aftercare instructions, you’ll ensure your permanent makeup heals beautifully and lasts for a long time. We’re always here if you have any questions or concerns!
